Broadchurch the ITV Drama Series
Dorset provides the backdrop for the fictional, picturesque, coastal town of Broadchurch.
But, there is nothing fictional about West Bay and the Jurassic Coastline, with its superb beaches and cliffs that provide the location for the filming of both series of the popular detective drama.
The walk to West Bay from Eype is a relatively easy 25 minute walk, a distance of less than a mile, passing the house filmed as the home of the prosecuting barrister played by Charlotte Rampling.
Of course, it did not all happen in West Bay! The actual murder in series one was filmed at the cliff edge chalet here in Eype!
During the filming of the latest series of Broadchurch, the hotel was delighted to have accommodated various producers and crew members.
Amy, Kevin and Glenis' daughter, having just completed a year at Guildford School of Acting, was invited on set by one of the producers. What a great experience. Without question, Amy said her favourite actor is Olivia Coleman, who she described as a very calm and natural person. The crew made Amy very welcome and were great fun to be amongst.
Eype is one of the Jurassic Coast Locations that has been featured on the recent ITV detective drama, Broadchurch. The cliff top cottage where the original murder took place (was it murder? What is Joe Miller's defence?) is at Eype, which is between Charmouth and West Bay.
